{what you need to know}
before you sugar...* first time?? let that hair grow! at least 7-10 days if you've been shaving... 2 weeks is sweeter. 3-4 weeks if you've been waxing or sugaring. hair being removed for the first time may be more resistant...if you're pain sensitive, feel free to take your preferred pain reducer such as ibuprofen 30 minutes before your appointment. if you've previously experienced "breakouts" or hives after hair removal, using your choice of antihistamine can help minimize those reactions.
* exfoliate the area(s) to be sugared...great the day before but NOT the day of your appointment to take off dry, dead skin and help to expose hairs that are going to be sugared. the combo of exfoliating and sugaring on the same day can irritate sensitive skin and that's not so sweet * come with clean skin...oils, lotions & creams can inhibit the sugar's ability to remove hair and make the treatment less effective. get your workout in a few hours before your appointment so your body has time to cool down...we don't want your hot bod melting the sugar, now do we * avoid uv exposure...give your skin a break from sunbathing & tanning beds for 24 hours before sugaring. sun burned skin can't be sugared...ouch * schedule smart...many women are more sensitive a few days before & after the start of their cycle...plan accordingly. does a surprise visit from aunt flo has you feeling a bit shy about your appointment...don't fret, come on in, your sugarista will put you at ease and have you hair free in no time. if you'd rather reschedule, our cancellation policy still applies |
after you sugar...* avoid touching freshly sugared skin...we know it's so soft, it's hard not to...but your hands are dirty, so keep them off!
* stay cool... hot showers after sugaring may increase skin sensitivity *wait on the workout... allow 12- 24 hours after your service before your next workout. sweat and dirt can irritate those newly hair free follicles *cover up... Wear a physical sun screen if you're going outside. avoid sun tanning for at least 24 hours: skin will be more sensitive to uv rays * don't shave...using a razor, tweezers or depilatory creams between body sugaring sessions will interfere with your goal to refine and diminish your hair growth and to have smooth skin, so just walk away * increase circulation with dry brushing! lightly dry brush 4-7 days a week to help prevent ingrown hair & breakouts and to keep your skin in good condition between sugaring services. your skin loves dry brushing to gently remove dead skin cells, increase circulation & stimulate lymphatic drainage. avoid loofahs...they're difficult to clean and harbor bacteria, yuck * healthy hydration...the best results are achieved with skin that is healthy. regularly hydrating (and dry brushing) your skin with the correct moisturizer (water based) between sugaring treatments is just as important as receiving treatments. avoid lotions with silicone(ingredients ending in "cone"), perfumes & chemical irritants. questions? your sugarista can help |
